HH WHITNEY HOUSE - A BED & BREAKFAST ON THE HISTORIC ESPLANADE, New Orleans

The HH Whitney House offers three guest rooms and two suites. Each room features a queen bed, digital cable TV, an alarm clock with radio and CD player, and bath items. The Solarium Suite provides a sitting parlor, a sleeping alcove, a gallery, and an ensuite bath. The Bride's Room, decorated in soft peach pastels, includes a black-iron bed dressed in flowers and lace. The Groom's Room features a bed handcrafted from two Cypress doors. The Scarlett O'Hara Room is adorned with Gone With the Wind memorabilia and a four-poster rice bed. The Garden Suite includes an exposed brick fireplace and a private balcony overlooking the garden.

The HH Whitney House provides breakfast each morning, with adjustments made for dietary needs. Breakfast specialties include freshly baked ham & cheese croissants, Eggs Whitney, ham, cheese and bacon omelette, waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream, and praline pecan pain perdu. The inn offers teas, orange juice, fresh fruit, cereal, and milk. Guests can access the complimentary beverage refrigerator and snack basket. Fire Marshall regulations prohibit guests from cooking on the premises.

The HH Whitney House features a swimming pool and hot tub. The base of the home's original cistern houses a Rebecca fountain and goldfish. Guests can engage in swimming, sunbathing, and garden strolls. The double-parlor includes eleven fireplaces and Italian marble mantelpieces. Guests in the Scarlett O'Hara Room use a downstairs hall bath, accessible by the rear staircase.

The HH Whitney House is in New Orleans' Esplanade Ridge historic district, between the Mississippi River at the Vieux Carré and City Park. It is one mile from City Park, the Botanical and Sculpture Gardens, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. The French Quarter is a half-mile away. The Esplanade Avenue bus provides connections to the city. Taxi service from the airport costs $36 for 1-2 persons or $15 per head for 3 or more. The Esplanade Avenue bus runs about every 30 minutes and offers connections to most other parts of the city.

The HH Whitney House provides digital satellite TV in every room, WiFi, and a full breakfast. The inn offers complimentary snacks and beverages. Check-in is by appointment, with early arrivals after 10 am or earlier by special arrangement. The three standard rooms have either private or semi-private access to the home's two hall baths, added circa 1900. Luxurious linens, bathrobes, slippers, towels, and bathroom items are provided.
