Rooms
Villa Convento provides multiple types of rooms. The suites are located on the fourth floor and offer a king size bed, TV, and sitting room, along with views of the river and rooftops of the Vieux Carre. The balcony rooms feature exposed bricks and tables and chairs outside. Loft rooms, situated on the third floor in the courtyard, are split-level, including a staircase to a loft with three twin-size beds and a king-size bed on the lower level. The courtyard queen rooms offer views of the courtyard. Multi-bed rooms provide options of a Queen and Twin bed in the main house or a Queen and Full bed with a Courtyard view. Each room includes A/C, heat, a full bath, windows, cable TV, an iron and board, a hairdryer, and free Wi-Fi.
Location Details
Located in the French Quarter, the Villa is near the Ursulines Convent. The hotel is located a block away from the French Market and a five-minute walk from Cafe Du Monde. Bourbon Street is a block and a half away, and the live music scene of Frenchmen Street in the Marigny is four blocks away. The Mississippi River is one block away from the hotel. The hotel is 5 km from New Orleans Lakefront and 3 km from Union.
History of Hotel
The Hotel Villa Convento is rumored to be the House of the Rising Sun and is a Creole townhouse built around 1833. Jimmy Buffett filmed a documentary on his early life in apartment 305. All of the hotel room numbers are original apartment numbers. In 1983, Warren, Lela, and Larry Campo bought the hotel, great-great-grandson of the first Campo who immigrated to Louisiana.
